Classics on The Moor6/8/2017
Our annual display at the biggest City Centre Classic Car Show round here was our best yet.
We had tons of awesome MOCs and classic car models plus plenty of activities for the kids. Was a great get together for members as well as a fantastic free day out for the people of Sheffield. Heres looking forward to next year. JULY 2017 LUGmeet30/7/2017
Fun and games at our regular monthly meet up.
Some nice MOCs and chat plus the usual excellent coffee and bacon butties with some new faces thrown in. Technic Tea Party19/7/2017
Tonight our Technic branch (STUG!) gathered for to part out some sets, show off some models and talk gears!
This was the first time we'd done a specific meet for a certain theme and as it went really well I think we will be having more in future.
We had been asked back to do another night of LEGO fun for the Beaver section of Greenhill 229th Methodist Scout Troop.
It was a pleasure to come along and help the kids learn to play well using some Lego System. We had a 'Build-A-Car Bar' where the kids started with the same basic pack of parts then customised their car however they liked then took turns racing them across the hut to see whose ran the best. After that we had a curated build following verbal instructions to build their own Beaver mini-model which went well and we finished just in the nick of time! Overall a great night and we are already looking forward to the next one! LEGO Club at Lowedges Academy7/6/2017
Minecraft was the theme today and all the kids had great fun building individual biomes that we then put together to create our their own Minecraft World.

Sheffield Brickfest 201715/5/2017
Our latest event, Sheffield Brickfest 2017 happened yesterday at Meadowhead School.
We had a great time in a great venue with a great crowd. We had just short of a thousand visitors through the day who all had an awesome time. We raised enough money from the door to donate £1600 to our hosts, Meadowhead School, and a further £410 from the tombola and donations to give to our favourite charity, Fairy Bricks. To say this was a hurriedly organised event due a last minute change of venue I'm very proud of what the LUG achieved. to edit. May 2017 LUGmeet7/5/2017
Final LUGmeet before our summer show and it was cracker!
Great turnout of members plus a newbie, Hi Kate, meant we had a full cafe. Some nice MOCs on show, new game to try, last minute plans arranged for the show and a nice raffle to round the day of raising a few more quid for our next fairy bricks donation. Yorkshire Brickshow2/5/2017
Sheffield LUG were well represented at the Yorkshire Brickshow this Bank Holiday Weekend at Unity Works in Wakefield. We had most of the biggest and best displays there and our members won two of the three awards, Best in Show for Rob Mitchell's 'Assault on Hoth' and Critics Choice for the SLUG Micropolis by Simon Blackburn, Joshua Banner, Russell Morgan and Kevin Hyatt.
We all had a great time and will be back for next years YBS bigger and better! North Notts Brick Show 201726/3/2017
After a bit of a delay here are some pics from the North Notts Brick Show 2017 that we were at a few weeks ago.
Was a good show and we raised a lot of money for the local scouts and to send some of the school pupils to Cambodia on a trip. |
